George Hoover Sr. (1941–2022)

George Hoover Sr., Co-Founder of Torrey Growth and Income Advisors, dedicated his life to helping individuals and families build lasting financial security. A trusted advisor, a mentor, and a friend to many, George brought over 50 years of wisdom, experience, and integrity to the financial services profession.

Before beginning his career in finance, George Sr. served as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State, representing the United States in Portugal and Brazil. He later returned to France where he spent many years growing wine and hosting friends and family. His commitment to public service, global perspective, and friendship defined his approach to client service throughout his life.

George Sr. entered the financial services industry in 1967 with Merrill Lynch and later served clients at firms including A.G. Edwards and Smith Barney. In 2006, he co-founded Torrey Growth and Income Advisors alongside his son, George Hoover Jr., with the vision of providing thoughtful, personalized financial guidance rooted in long-term relationships and uncompromising ethical standards.

Many of our clients first started working with George Sr. decades ago and knew him not only as a keen investor but also an avid golfer, lover of good food and wine, and proud parent of four children and grandparent to 18. His impact endures today in the values that shape Torrey Growth and Income Advisors and in the countless lives he helped secure a more confident financial future.
