Our Legacy Is Helping You Build Yours
Torrey Growth and Income Advisors was founded nearly 20 years ago by the late George Hoover, Sr., and his son, George Hoover, Jr., with a vision to create something enduring: a firm rooted in trust, personalized service, and long-term relationships.
After spending a combined four decades at large financial institutions, they saw firsthand the limits of the traditional model. Their solution: build an independent investment advisory firm that puts clients first, free from the constraints of big-firm agendas.
Torrey Growth has thrived ever since, steadily growing while staying true to its founding values as a fee-only fiduciary. George Hoover, Jr., continues to lead the firm alongside the next generation — his children — ensuring that the family tradition remains central to everything we do. Just as essential to that legacy is Luwain Ng, our longtime operations manager and a foundational member, who has been with the team since their prior days at Smith Barney.
We’re proud to be a multi-generational business serving multi-generational families. Many of our client relationships span grandparents, parents, children, and even great-grandchildren. It’s a reflection of what we believe: that financial advice should be enduring, personal, and deeply aligned with your family’s goals across generations.
From our headquarters in Del Mar, California, we serve high-net-worth families across the country. With a new presence in Washington, D.C., led by the oldest Hoover son, we’re strengthening our ability to support both existing and new clients — meeting them wherever life and opportunity takes them.
That approach includes helping clients pursue not only financial growth, but also purpose-driven outcomes. Whether it’s incorporating mission-aligned investing, supporting charitable giving strategies, or building a legacy of impact, we help families align their wealth with what matters most.

Our Namesake: We named our firm after the rugged Torrey Pine tree only found in two places along the coast of southern California. The rarest pine tree in North America is a fixture in Del Mar where it has thrived for millennia.
