At Torrey Growth, you know who you're working with and we know you. Many of our client relationships span decades and extend across multiple generations of the same family.

George Hoover
Founder & CEO
George has worked in financial services since 1998 and has advised clients directly for more than 25 years. He co-founded Torrey Growth & Income Advisors in 2006 and leads the firm's investment strategy. His longstanding focus has been on options strategies for clients holding highly appreciated assets. Before founding the firm, he was a financial advisor at A.G. Edwards and Smith Barney.
George grew up in Del Mar. He spent years as a city lifeguard, where he was named Lifeguard of the Year, and finished in the top ten at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona. He remains an avid surfer and rock climber, serves on the board of the Douc Langur Foundation, which protects endangered primates in Southeast Asia, and has worked with fellow climbers to protect access to Southern California's climbing areas.

Zealan Hoover
Principal · Washington, DC
Zealan leads the firm's Washington, DC office, where he works with current and former federal employees, mission-driven investors, and families focused on charitable giving. His work spans investment strategy, philanthropic structures including donor-advised funds and private foundations, and planning around federal benefits and post-government careers.
He joined Torrey Growth after a career spanning the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the White House, and McKinsey & Company. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead-Cain Scholar.
Outside the office, Zealan climbs and explores parks and trails with his wife and two young daughters, and remains active in environmental advocacy.

Luwain Ng

Luwain has over 30 years of experience in financial services and has been with Torrey Growth since the firm was founded in 2006. She oversees account operations and is often the first person clients hear from, providing continuity across relationships that in many cases span decades. She previously worked for A.G. Edwards, Smith Barney, and Bank of Hawaii.
A former competitive equestrian, she is now an avid rock climber and CrossFitter, and serves alongside George on the board of the Douc Langur Foundation.

He graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS in Business Administration, concentrating in finance with a minor in economics, and has passed the CFP Board's certification examination.
Away from the markets, Kian is a photographer, tennis player, surfer, and rock climber.

She graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a BS in Public Health and Spanish. Founder · In memoriam
George Hoover Sr.
George Hoover Sr. started his career as a financial advisor after representing the United States abroad as a Foreign Service Officer in Europe and South America. He built a financial practice around the values of his public service, including integrity, discretion, and care for the people he served.
He passed away several years ago, but the practice he built and the clients he served remain central to who we are today. Our clients still include family members of his State Department colleagues from over fifty years ago.
